I believe he is 26 and Vålerenga I.F. offered a 5 year contract meaning he will still be a relatively young (for a keeper) 31 when his contract expires... he has trials with Bolton and Everton but as you say Kevin work permit issues would certainly be a problem in England.  A lot of our Canadian guys go to Norway for this reason as well hoping to establish themselves in Euro jobs which makes getting an EU work permit a little easier even without the national team appearances.

I would assume that DC Utd. would want to keep Troy.  He is a very good keeper.  I don't know how old he is.  Maybe he feels that time is running out on him getting a shot at going to Europe.

The problem he might have is the number nat. team caps he has, if any.  In order to play in England, for example,  he would need to obtain a work permit.  To do this he would need to get a certain number of caps, ( I am not sure what that number is).  There is only a handful of leagues in Europe that don't require any caps or EU citizenship that count against the roster.  I would tend to think that the Danish league would be one of those leagues.  That might have been his only outlet.

Don't you think the fact that good young goalkeepers are easy to find might hurt the market for them?

Just a thought.

He is one of the premier keepers in the league!  It really has to make you think if, arguably, our best domestic based American keeper can make better money in NORWAY than he can make in the MLS, there is something wrong with our league.  An agent ought to get in Troy's ear and tell him to stick here and have another good season and a premier team might come calling.

This bothers me.  I hate dc utd!!  But I hate it even more to see our players jumping ship to go to 3rd rate leagues in Europe for more money because our owners will spend money to get a 32 year old player for millions and don't give a crap about the American players.
