Two-time MLS champions, the Houston Dynamo, are De La Hoya's club of choice, with a bid of around $30-40M reportedly needed to purchase the franchise. The Houston Chronicle reports De La Hoya is eager to tap into the growing Hispanic sports market in Houston, with boxing and soccer enjoying massive crossover appeal. Representatives from Golden Boy recently took in a Dynamo game at Robertson stadium, while club president Oliver Luck recently met with Golden Boy management in Los Angeles. ********** What do the folks in Houston think of this? I did not know the team was for sale. Or would this be akin to an LBO? Most intersting statement is that boxing and soccer have "massive crossover appeal". So will we then see more fist fights in Robertson Stadium? ;p Don't get caught with egg on your face. Play Chicktionary! Check it out! |
