I agree he does have to
sign Canadians but players 17 through 28 for mostly unskilled back-up
positions just like the good old days of the NASL (note I did say Canadians
would be part of the development squad - that's roster spots 19 through 28 to
me) - Canada will be producing great goalkeepers and defensive defenders
nothing wrong with that - just not what we had in mind...
I hope I'm wrong but I see one Canadian
- Brennan in the first 11 - maybe Sutton in goal if he recovers from
his concussion (at this point looks unlikely) - a couple of more of our British
imports are rumoured to be switching citizenship so that will make it
even easier for Mo (like O'Brian qualifying as an American). We will
have a full compliment of five Americans in the first 18 - they did last season
and then Mo will use his full allotment of foreigners for the remaining spots in
the first 18.
Again at a professional level IMO no one
should be guaranteed spots because of where they are born not even the US
players as far as I am concerned but as they say if it is good for the goose its
good for the gander - IF they did not bring TFC back down to the import levels
of everyone else before they added these three new spots I would be screaming in
KC. But then again this whole league is kind of run on a make the rules up
as we go along kind of way.
