Ah but there is the rub he does not have to sign any Canadians at all if he
can acquire two more international spots (other than for the developmental
squad) which I hear KC and Columbus might be willing to move...

and if they do use FIVE of those international spots (after the first 10
they have) they must be Americans which suits Trader Mo just fine as he has
already stated his dislike of the available Canadian talent (and actively
lobbied MLS for the extra US spots)...

as I said I hate the quota system - at this level professionals should earn
their spots - but to have a Canadian franchise to not have to field at least
one Canadian when despite what you say has to field US players is just a
little strange. Even if they said at least one player in your squad of 18
has to be Canadian it would make a little more sense.

not surprisingly to many Mo did not quite get things done in '07 even with
his advantages of more foreign slots, and a full salary budget (there is no
shortage of funds at MLSE and I'm sure they hit the salary cap to the exact
penny last season as 'flexible" as that salary cap has shown to be) so this
year as far as I am concerned he must field a winner even if it is just a
second year team with the advantages he has been given.
