Re: [nas] Red Bull Barca observations by Rick Young 15 August 2006 02:23 UTC |

First observation is that it was ugly and an over the knee spanking on the front porch
in front of the whole neighborhood. Only respect NY got was they did not cry in front
of everyone after the spanking. ;-)
Looked like the current US national basketball team against...
well anyone right now. To be expected, however.
Ny weaknesses- They have no midfield presence...in that
Nobody but O'Rourke could be bothered with
defending in the middle.
Gevara can be silky, but holds the ball too long, slows play, and could not tackle
to save his life.
Djork could not be bothered to tackle and looks like another euro-weenie over
here to play "kick around" and see the sights in NY.
No teeth in attack. Buddle is unimaginative and looks like a plodding
quarterhorse going up against Ky thoroughbreds. Just take a step
and lop it toward goal. 35 yards out, no problem...... No vision, no sense of
game situations, etc.
In short, what we would expect for a lower-mid table MLS side against one the top
2,3 club sides in the world. It also looked like Barca turned it up a notch after looking
rather ordinary a few other matches.
Give Ny a player in the middle like Mastroeni, and that team would be an altogether
different proposition; but still would have been beaten like a rented mule.
