Of course you are right, and I think we all have to come to grips that our country's personality gravites towards "our" sports, and that includes many ex pats from soccer playing nations that have come to love US sports over soccer too. Or at the very least, why support the local MLS/USL team, if you can get a steady diet of your favorite team via the internet or cable or satellite TV live. I am a University of Virginia sports fan. If I lived in SoCal, I couldn't care less about USC or UCLA or the Pac 10 when I can watch my teams and the ACC on TV every weekend.

I'm reminded of the late Jack Kent Cooke statement about why he got an expansion NHL hockey team for Los Angeles in 1966. He said he got a team because it was said 100,000 people there were from Canada. But after stgggling at the gate he found those Canadians that went to LA from Canada, did so because they hated hockey :)

Have a good weekend !

Hah! We do not have to wait for "tourists". We have MORE than enough Europeans and South Americans in the country NOW.
However, they REFUSE to so much as lift an eyebrow to support the game here, or their local teams.
If they did, the sport would look, and BE quite different here.

I've beat this horse to death, I know. I'll quit now.  But let's not frget who these people really
are and where their "loyalties" lie.
