I DO think the game could have sold out in other US venues, but I think the point was could it have done so that quickly. In two weeks Seattle sold 66K for this game and I don't think the Champions Tour did that kind of quick sale. I drove up to Philadelphia for the Chelsea v AC Milan game in 2004 and there were about 45K, though to be fair, that tour had a number of games played on the east coast in a short period of time so fans could pick and choose which game they went to. I have to say though, as good a town for MLS as the DC area is, I am not sure they could have gotten 66,000 for a Wednesday night game at Fed Ex Field (RFK with only 45K capacity maybe) like Seattle did yesterday.

But Beckham is a magical name, and I wish there was a way to determine how much his name drew fans and not the name "Real Madrid"

I disagree.  Remember the sighs of bliss had by all the sundry "euro-snobs"
and other ex-pat elitists on the meaningless Champion's World Tour a few years ago?????
They came out and sold out our nfl stadiums and it sickened me.

They are akin to the lowly cicada....who remains dormant underground for 17 years or
so, then one summer, they crawl out of the ground, make a lot of noise for
a few weeks, shed their skins and disappears again.
Good riddance!!!!!!
