From what I understand they wanted to play it in the DC area, but RFK, Fed-EX Field, and M&T Bank Stadiums in Baltimore, weren't available.  Why they didn't look at Byrd Stadium at Maryland, about 7 miles form RFK, or Navy's 30,000 seat stadium 20 miles away in Annapolis, I am not sure.  The latest now is, because Red Bulls are playinng Barcelona on August 12, they didn't want to risk having those games compete for ticket buyers given the already insane prices they are asking for these friendlies.

Dc is the "flagship" team in MLS.
My guess is this played a factor for both sides, MLS and Real?

I too, am puzzled at why this is played in Seattle?
