Well, there's some historical precedent..... the Man U/Celtic game here sold out in 4 hours! Seattle has a huge "event" market. Not just the idle rich (the # of millionaires in this area is staggering) but youth and adult recreational soccer participation like nowhere in the country. They'll fill the seats. I'd love to say, "gee, I told you so", but you guys already know that this area, with a viable owner (or an owner who would accept the business model, Mr. Paul Allen), would be one of the hottest MLS markets in the States. Fact is, this game is a bad argument for that because, again, this is more an event than an actual reflection of the sport. Still, the MLS would do well to find a way to get a team into this city. Portland, too. D

i don't think that would happen here in DC, which has a comparably sized metropolitan area. heck, the Chelsea game only sold 40k with at least twice as much marketing time.
