I can agree with that to an extent.  In some ways, our setup makes it
easier to do that because we can have a "Euro" US team and an "MLS" US
team and there are always available slots to put promising MLS players
into.  That was one thing that BA did very well was increasing the
player pool.  So in that strict sense, players can be developed, sort
of.  But to really develop, they need playing time.  This means more
national team games.  But it also means MLS teams need to step it up and
push for more success in Confederation Cup matches (i.e. not resting
starters, experimenting with players, etc).Get those players in more
competitive matches which helps MLS's competitive nature in the long run
and also helps push the development of players for the national team.
