If so, it’s going to be more complex to come up with an electronic alternative since we’re talking about an infraction that occurs at the time the ball is played but only when the player is actively involved, interfering with play, gaining an advantage, etc. One part of the equation is fairly objective; the other is more of a judgment call. The higher the level and the faster the players, the harder this call is to make. The assistant referee is almost never going to be as fast as the players as well. It’s a tough call to make, but I don’t think it’s impossible. Of course, I’m basing that on game experience and not on being published in a prestigious medical journal though. J
