Maybe I'm just being naive or something, but I really can't see the fed putting 
$10 million at risk (roughly what qualifying for the World 
Cup is worth).

I *could* see them going with uncapped teams for friendlies while continuing to 
pick the experienced players for qualifiers and 
basically dare them to strike.
