I want Team USA to be the home team when WCQ games are played in the USA
next year. To that end, here is where I hope we will play these games.
I know the absence of the HDC makes this list invalid, but we are playing 4
teams from Central America and Trinidad. My definition of a "home game" is
one where fans rooting for the USA severely outnumber ones cheering for the
other team. Since the only game guarantees this is Trinidad, one of those
stadiums gets left out.
March 30 vs Guatemala: Foxboro
Cold. Long travel time for opponent.
June 4/5 vs Costa Rica: Portland or Seattle
Far enough north to ensure home crowd.
August 17 vs T & T: Frisco
This Dallas suburb can not host any other team without risking being
overrun by visiting fans. Uncle Lamar's House of Whoop A$$ deserves a WCQ
in its first season as a thank you to all the Burn have had to go through
since their founding in 1996.
September 3/4 vs Mexico: Anchorage, Honolulu, Cor' d' Laine (Idaho), or on
Guam.
There is no place in the continental USA safe from TriColor fans. Since
none of the cities mentioned above will be chosen, look for this game to be
played in Columbus if the USSF is sane. Look for Foxboro if they are
willing to sacrifice a home game in exchange for a large gate.
October 12 vs Panama: Chicago
Chicago is where it should be played to guarantee a home crowd. Where it
likely will be played is at the HDC.
