RE: [nas] NEW RULES AND Chivas news

After a couple of years, a few of the current group of MLS
Spanish-speaking SI's should be able to apply for green cards. At that
point, Chivas could keep the current ratio or even expand the number of
foreign nationals on their team. The only thing that would keep them
from fielding all green card and foreign players would be the salary
cap. Of course every MLS team could do this, they just have not. I don't
doubt that Chivas will be well supported, but I do not think we can
afford a team in our top league that is almost exclusively foreign when
we only have 12 teams.

What's the point of the YI slots? I know they wanted to take some hot
young players young and sell them at some point, but I can't remember
the last young foreign player the league sold. They seem to do better
with the P-40 players who get sold than anything. Why not add an extra
P-40 or roster-exempt young US player slot instead?

IOW, this is a temporary situation for their first 2 years. After that,
either the rules are changed (again) or their team make up must be
changed
to match the rest of the league.
