I honestly don't know how I feel about this topic. Just to play Devil's
advocate though, I am not sure if the Dutch model works 100%.

First off, I think the Dutch are one of the most talented sides in Europe.
Their difficulties in my mind have much more to do with chemistry and
coaching than with talent.

Besides, almost the entire starting 11 at any moment for the Dutch plays out
of the country. You could even make the argument that without foreign
players in the Dutch league, the league would be truly crap, with almost no
Internationals from any country playing there. The question then is what
happens if you have a league where everyone is from the home country, but
the level play is substandard. Do they improve enough to make an impression
on the world stage?
