A couple of erroneous things I saw in previous posts.
1. The limit has never been, from what I have seen
reported, been proposed at five SIs. It's always been
talked about as four in 2005, which may have caused
confusion.
2. The Transitional Internationals (U-25) are not
capped per team, but are capped in the league. So
while the Metros do have five, it's not because thewy
traded for TI slots. They just chose to sign TIs as
discoveries and such.
To me, the bottom line is that the league is trying to
deepen the talent pool from all nations - a possible
raise in the SI limit, encouraging teams to get TIs
and looking at expanding the rosters to allow for
meaningful reserve play and more spots for Americans.
