Makes sense to me. FC is a phrase people associate with soccer around the
world. Kansas City Chiefs FC is not in common usage. Manchester United FC
is. IIRC, the official name for the Fusion was Miami Fusion FC. People
will figure it out without too much trouble. After a while, nicknames and
branding become part of the lexicon. Yankee started out as a derisive term
southerners used for northerners. Now its proudly used by a baseball team,
northeasterners, and even the whole country. DC "United" was also clearly a
non-American sports name, but people in the DC area have become accustomed
to the name and think of it as normal. I think FC will also eventually
become a normal part of the sports landscape in Dallas.

I'm in that camp. But then, I've ranted before about American fans
doing this. It makes us seem like wannabes. It was the main reason I
objected to calling the Supporters Shield the Scudetto.

If we are going to call the sport something other than soccer, it would
make more sense calling it fútbol since there are so many spanish
speakers in the US, particularly in Dallas.

If we are going to call them Football Club Dallas, we may as well call
them Voetbal Club Dallas, or Fussball Club Dallas, or Calcio Club
Dallas. Makes about as much sense to me.
