There is another draw back about changing the club name. If under the original  club  you have won some awards that will become blurred over time historically. Like your club never won it.

For instance lets say you  won an open cup for example under Dallas Burn have you ever won one? Then after that you won other hardware under Dallas FC in later years people will not realize that the original awards were won by the same club. They will think a different club won this stuff.

I have had that problem with my own club and it is annoying to say the least. You see a record of who won what in 1979 for example, and see a club name and then people say who the hell is this? When it is your club that won. What they don't know is that club listed and your club are the same club, but that year we stupidly went under a new name.
