RE: [nas] Good Narrative History of US Soccer.... Anything? by Charlynn Helms 10 August 2004 03:49 UTC |

I went to WC98 in France and was devastated when my health and financial
situation prevented me from attending WC2002. So, I got Andy's book to see
what he thought. Wow, I was immersed in the sights and sounds and people of
the US supporters and the WC in general - it gave me the feeling I was there
among them. And for those who are regular NAS lurker/posters, members of
Sams Army, or went to any of the WCQ games - you are sure to recognize some
of the people mentioned.
Well worth the money.

PS - If you haven't read 'Game of their lives' yet, you should - the movie
is coming out this fall. And the Encyclopedia Phil mentioned is stunning.
PPS - Andy - so, is the missus going to Germany with you? I think every one
wants to meet her after reading your book.

I guess I'll take this opportunity to, once again, plug the book I
wrote on the 2002 World Cup, 23 Days in Korea: An American at the World
Cup. It tells the story of the US' stunning run through a fans eyes. It
was my goal to allow those who were there to relive those great times and
for those who did not make the trip, to give them the experience to make
them feel as if they had gone.
I know many on this board have read it, a few even star in it! Check
it out and read a small sample here:

If any who have read it care to comment, I would appreciate it, though
I know I have heard from many. I hope you all enjoyed it.
