I guess I'll take this opportunity to, once again, plug the book I wrote on the 2002 World Cup, 23 Days in Korea: An American at the World Cup. It tells the story of the US' stunning run through a fans eyes. It was my goal to allow those who were there to relive those great times and for those who did not make the trip, to give them the experience to make them feel as if they had gone.
I know many on this board have read it, a few even star in it! Check it out and read a small sample here:

If any who have read it care to comment, I would appreciate it, though I know I have heard from many. I hope you all enjoyed it.

There are actually a few out there -

Game of Their Lives - about the 1950 WC team. A few inaccuracies but a good read.

Shep Messing also wrote one back in the heyday of the NASL

Dave Litterer was involved in a nice collective - The Encyclopedia of American Soccer History

However, there's always room for more books. I've always wanted to read one about the history, development, characters up in the MA-CT-RI area, say 1800s to 1960s... (If anyone knows of anything like it...)

I know there are books galore on coaching, and bunches of statistical histories.... but anything of a narrative on the history of the game stateside?
