Good points - although it was pretty obvious last night that we still have a ways to go.  The Burn-Rapids game was a doubleheader with Chivas-Santos from the Mexican League.  Great atmosphere, had a wonderful time.

But it was painfully obvious that while you may or may not like the actual style of Mexican League Football, it certainly is at a higher level than MLS.  There certainly players in MLS who can compete in the MFL, but in terms of overall depth and speed, we have a ways to go.

But as pointed out below - obviously, we have significantly improved of late.  Adding the reserve matches will help as well.  The final piece will be raising the salary cap once we can afford it.

As for the internationals - I think you have seen an improvement there, too - now more of them are young guns from the Americas or players from Europe who are younger than their predecessors, in better shape, take the league more seriously, etc.  Simo Valakari is a great example of that - same as Ekelund (although E might be a better player overall), Elliott, etc.

Danny S. commented in today's Columbus Dispatch on how he couldn't believe how fast the tempo was.  I know I've said this before but I am really pleased with the level of play that the MLS is played at and the progress that the league has made.  More and more Yanks are the stars of the league.  8  or so years ago they were not much better than the A-League now they are worlds apart because of all of the hungry young "Yanks" that are playing in the league. Moving some of the overpaid, over-rated international players out of the league.
