EJ is a forward, and don't knock him off the list for 2006. He is a very, very good young player and is finally developing this year. He WILL be part of the nats at some point in time. What I really like about Gaven is this: Whereas Convey and Beasley are much, much better defensive players than offensive, Gavin's skill set is offense. Gaven can play as either forward or an attacking midfielder. I would really enjoy seeing a box 4 man midfield, with he and Donovan on the top of the box and Reyna and O'Brien in the back. That would be very good. If the US moves in that direction, Beasley and Convey would start battling for the left fullback slot. We will see what Beasley develops into in Holland. In the system they play, he will be pushed up as a third forward or an outside back pretty quickly. -----Original Message----- From: Damian Wright [mailto:damianwright1@comcast.net] Sent: Sunday, August 01, 2004 7:12 PM To: nas@americakicks.com Subject: RE: [nas] Consider me sold on Gaven Gaven played target forward alongside Adu for the U17's when they played in Dallas Cup. He may no longer be playing there but that may be more because he is young and there are more experienced players in front of him. Eddie Johnson played right mid/winger in Dallas' 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 morph lineup last year but is now strictly a forward again. Gaven may never play there again but it is not impossible as he has speed, size, good touch and a good shot. > -----Original Message----- > From: nas-owner@americakicks.com [mailto:nas-owner@americakicks.com]On > Behalf Of Rick Mangi > Sent: Sunday, August 01, 2004 6:52 PM > To: Buzz Carrick > Cc: nas@americakicks.com > Subject: Re: [nas] Consider me sold on Gaven > > > Gaven's not a forward.
