The difference is, A-League teams exist to win games, championships, and satisfy paying customers and sponsors. An MLS reserve team would (or at least should) have as it's only goal producing better players for the senior side. Lose all your games? Bad, but as long as the players in your charge are developing and more likely to push the senior team for spots, it's less important.

I wonder what this means for teams like the MetroStars U-19 team, or Fire Reserves...
