The fourth doesn't have a flag to wave. He'd have to go through the AR
on his side to get the referee's attention, but the AR doesn't have to
put a flag up. They use electronic flags in just about every MLS match
so all the AR needs to do is push the button to beep or buzz the referee
to get his attention. It's a little more discrete and many higher-level
referees would prefer a "silent" or inconspicuous signal here so that
the AR doesn't look to be showing up the referee. It allows the AR to
communicate that he has information the referee may be interested in.
The important thing is that they get the call right based on the
information the ref team has at the moment.

Funny, but none the AR's or 4th official waved their flag after the
play.
The ref conferred with Kreis for 30 seconds afterwards while trying to
decide what happened. A lot of time went by before the big screen showed
the
replay twice and then the ref ran over and gave the red. Kreis might
have
deserved it but none of the refs saw it live.
