There is no excuse for what Cuauhtemoc Blanco did. He started the whole thing after the game when he returned to the field to seek payback. The fans broke through the fencing and the police were ill equipped to stop anything. America should be suspended from International comptetion for a year and Blanco should be fined no less than US$100,000 and should also be suspended by FIFA. A message must be sent that this behavior is not permisable, period. As for the Santos Laguna-River game, the Mexican team was robbed. A perfectly legal save by Santos keeper Christian Luccetti during the penalty phase was ordered to be taken again because he allegedly moved. It was absurd, the River keeper moved more on all the other shots. Of, course, River scored on the second chance and went on to win.
