IThe level of play in MLS has improved exponentially in the last few years with the addition some of these new kids. I think it's very telling that we have so many youngsters in the league. I believe it says that this current teenage generation as a whole (Gen13?) is much better on average than the players just 10 years older. I don't think we'll be seeing the same number of < 20 players in the league 10 years from now. Unless we can't find a way to compete with Europe for the services of the players who will be 25-30 then...

Obviously success at the International Youth level does have its rewards:

"The 17-year-old . . . has attracted interest from Arsenal, Tottenham,
Manchester City and Manchester United since starring in the recent FIFA
World Youth Championships, in which the United States reached the final."

I've been seeing lots of commentary lately following Freddy Adu that has
looked at other up and coming players who could be on a 2010 WC Squad - and
frankly, it's exciting!
