I don't think he is effective enough to play 90. >From an objective perspective, while he has nice ball skill, he doesn't understand what to do off the ball. He just stands around. Esky and Moreno play well together (or as well as a DC forward tandem does play together) because Esky stays high, runs around a lot up there, and Moreno checks back. Adu likes to check back, but doesn't work hard enough off the ball. He also is too frail to be the guy running up top, because you have to challenge physically there. A little like Donavan when he first came into the league. I think that DC will struggle anytime they put Moreno and Adu on the field together. I find myself wondering if Adu maybe doesn't run off the ball much because he really wants to make the run that Moreno just made. But I am not sure. Basically, I think the DC attack falls apart when he goes in, because he and Moreno don't click. Until he actually subs for Moreno, I don't think he will be effective. -----Original Message----- From: Kevin Lindstrom [mailto:klindstr@flash.net] Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2004 9:40 PM To: NAS List Subject: Re: [nas] Adu to start? Do you honestly think he can go 90 minutes? He needs to show he can be more effective for 45 minutes before they try him at 90. Not that he wasn't effective. But 30-45 minutes is probably what he needs to be focusing on for now. My two cents (no returns, refunds or exchanges.)
