My first MLS match in quite some time, and I gotta say I was impressed comparing this with what I remember of yester-year. Some highlights for me: Metros: Joselito Vaca(8): He's good. Also... he's good. And finally, he's good. At the end he split two defenders and made them look stuu-hoo-hoo-hoo-pid!! Ricardo Clark(6.5): Didn't play enough time for me to see how he can manage a midfield, but he did show a great pullback move, and looks calm, cool, and collected. Oh yeah, and big and fast. He's scary... and he's going to get scarier. Why doesn't he start? Fabian Tayler(8): Great finisher and ball-handler. Jamaica seems not so easy with him up front. Mike Magee(5): I think Magee gets a low score because the ref didn't look out for him one bit. He got hammerred a couple of times in and around the box and the ref shook him off. I felt bad for the guy... but he'll get better. Amado Guevara(6.5): Good enough distribution, and pushed the ball forward well. Not busy enough in the defensive end for me, even though he is an attacking midfielder. Metros Defense(4): They looked disorganized. DC had some very good runs of posession and made the Metros look amateur for a while. Eddie Gaven(4.5): Eh? What's the big deal? Not as good as his first game, but you can see the talent is there. Maybe I was too starstruck by Vaca to care much about Gaven. John Wolyniec(7): He's talented... he looks goofy, but he's talented. I like him enough to say that he deserves to start over Magee. Nice effort on the goal, especially considering the rug-burn he must have on his forehead! ***** DC United: Ben Olsen(6.5): Maybe the new 'do helps his play look less haggard than the Benny of two years ago, but his energy seems more focused... less head-less-chicken-esque. He also looks like he put on a whole bunch of muscle. Yikes. Bobby Convey(7.5): Same as Olsen... except minus 6 years, and also minus the hair-do comments. Wait a sec... that's really different. He's my favorite player right now. He works really hard, put on some good weight, and he sees the field well. That, on top of his physical abilities, and his natural talent... I'm setting the O/U for him to go to Europe at 1.5 yrs. Ernie Stewart(7): This looks like Ernie's team. He looks more comfortable. He's leading out there now. Jaime Moreno(7): Where have you been Jaime? My sister still has a crush on you, so the fact that you are playing like pre-surgery Jaime Moreno makes her feel dreamy about DC's chances. You needed to finish today, but your ball-skills are back. Keep it up. You're fun to watch. Freddy Adu(6): Dear Freddy, gain weight. Love Steve. PS - Congratulations on your first goal, and on making Bonseu looking like garbage (what a ****in' move!!). DC Defense(5): Your keeper let you down on the third goal, but you need to defend the counter-attack better. Hard tacklers... the lot of you. Warren(4): Please send the other short DC goalkeeper back out there. He's better than you. Sorry... just being honest. ***** That's all for now.
