Yeah, but I think he did score an important goal or two (at least one, anyway).

 

As for Charles' decisions - leave it alone.  I would much rather a youth coach take it slow with a kid than rush him too fast.  If there is a possibility that the Landon we saw in Korea was even a scintilla better than he would have been had he been rushed forward (wasn't he 18 at the time?) then I am fine with it.  Sure, maybe we didn't do as well as we might have in Sydney, but having Landon at his best is what is important.

This was the team Clive Charles coached is it not? The same coach that had Connor Casey start a lot or most of those games right?

That was the same coach who did not think Donovan was a key member of that 2000 US Olympic team. He did not start a lot of games if I remember right. When Donovan did get into a game he played him as a wing mid. I remember that at that time Donovan did not really know how to play the wing mid, and got lost in some of the games that he played in.

Am I wrong about this my memory is very bad, but I can't help remembering that Charles did not have much confidence in Donovan at that time. So Donovan playing time was very limited, and he was not a key member of the 2000 olympic team.
