Just speculation, but:

Seems to me, Ralph's waivering over which nation's team he has an interest
in
is a trail balloon and I hope BA is reading it.  I believe he would favor
the US
due to his experience with Chicago and the success of the Nats. He might
just need
something to sway him.......eh?

BA-  throw the kid a bone.
