Good news - it probably would be a good market, and
the city is on board with making a big push.

Bad news - they want to play indoors, on carpet, in
tha Alamodome.

As much as I would love to see a team in San Antonio,
and while I am not going to walk a protest line if MLS
tries it, I really don't think playing on plastic is
the way to go.

I mean, technically, the stuff in Chicago, the
Meadowlands and Dragon Stadium are supposed to be the
best stuff out there for soccer, and it is killing
those players. Chicago and Metro are adapting well,
but it doens't change the fact that the field is hard
on the players.

My opinion isn't based on pre-concieved notions of the
old turf - this is based on the results of the new
stuff, and they are not much better than the old stuff.

Too bad this is the only apparent option in San
Antonio - as a Dallas fan, I would have loved to have
seen a team in San Antonio and Houston.

Another negative - if San Antonio is trying to get in
via Chivas, they need to know that MLS has already
given Vergara a deadline and that is based on the San
Diego dead where they have already surveyed the
stadium. In San Antonio, they haven't even met with
the guy.

If San Antonio wants to have an MLS team, they need to
find an owner/investor, and they need to find a
facility that plays on the real stuff.
