I think it is safe to say that US soccer can >(and probably is) producing more than 40 players who >could benefit from similar training and be valuable >players on the world soccer market. Look at Ken >Cooper - had planned on going to SMU this fall, but >now is headed to ManU. Ryan Nunez is in a similar >situation, but since he has yet to get his US >citizenship, he is available for P-40. Or Ralph, or Shavar Thomas, or many of the other foreign players who come to the US and play college soccer. Imagine if we could get the youth from CONCACAF along with the US talent that for whatever reason isn't in the P-40 pipeline? And recall, odds are with the right coaching, these facilities (if the system is set up like Bradenton) would probably be better than many of the similar programs in North America. Imagine getting the best and the brightest from Costa Rica? Honduras? Guatemala? El Salvador? Jamaica? Mexico might be a little tough, but there would be some. Give parents a chance to send their kids to school in the US AND they get top-level soccer training? Granted, that would require some significant up-front costs from adidas or whoever (which is why IMG works, with the Fed, Nike and IMG throwing money into it, and I think the parents might pay some, too....?) and would have to overcome the lack of income from the Fed, but if you look at what happened to Tim Howard, what almost happened to Bobby Convey, what will happen to Freddy Adu (if things go as they should - knock on wood), what should happen to DMB, you can see that there is the potential for lots of $$$ to be made. --- See all of today's Soccer News Links at: http://www.sams-army.com/ NAS is hosted by America Kicks (http://www.americakicks.com) To subscribe or unsubscribe: http://nas.americakicks.com To post, send an email to nas@americakicks.com
