Racism in Europe is a different animal. There is still a widespread tolerance for racial harassment as evidenced by the lack of response from ref on the day and from Gooch's own club afterwards. Gooch is taking a stand, attempting to force those who wish to ignore this very real problem to face up to the reality of racism in Belgian and European footy. By his actions he is doing what he can to make the road easier for players of color who follow him. It takes a lot of courage to follow through with this when it would be easier to just forget it. I couldn't be more proud that Gooch is one of us and I wish him complete success in his case.
