What 60 day waiting period? He should still be eligible to switch under the old rule because he only appeared in friendlies for Germany. Chris Armas, Jeff Cunningham, and Martin Vasquez all played for other countries before playing for the US, and they were allowed to switch because their matches for the other countries were only friendlies. It seems that the same rule should apply to Jones. I believe the new rule only applies to people who are cap tied via official youth matches but have not played in an official senior national team match. Only matches in official competitions count - continental and World Cup Qualifiers, continental and World Cup finals matches, and Confed Cup. Any other matches - even Chris Armas's Shell Cup matches for Puerto Rico in a pseudo-Gold Cup qualifier - count as friendlies and don't cap tie the player. ----- Original Message ----- From: <philsoc@bellsouth.net> To: "Keith Bundy" <kdaleb@bundy.biz>; <nas-bounces@americakicks.com>; "NAS" <NAS@americakicks.com> Sent: Friday, June 12, 2009 8:46 AM Subject: Re: [nas] New Yank! > Until the 60 day waiting period expires - the old rules apply so he would > be ineligible. It stinks because the gold cup would be perfect. --- See all of today's Soccer News Links at: http://www.sams-army.com/ NAS is hosted by America Kicks (http://www.americakicks.com) To subscribe or unsubscribe: http://nas.americakicks.com To post, send an email to nas@americakicks.com
