Although there has been a fair bit of discussion surrounding Padilla, I think the more interesting case is that of 20-year-old Carlos Borja, who is presently a member of their second team. Borja was born in Mexico but has already represented the US at the U-17 and U-20 levels. Chivas has had several foreign-born players with Mexican parents, but I believe that Borja is the first who's ever represented a different country.

By the way, I wouldn't rule out Padilla for the US. He's clearly interested, and he won't be with Chivas forever. Hopefully, the USSF will stay in contact with him and their other US-eligible players.
