Toronto just needs to stop signing players who will have international commitments.  It's been a wonderful strategy that's helped DC United to a couple Supporters Shield over the last few years.  ;-)

Up until now, the weekend dates have been more valuable to the league than the presence of their star players.  Most of their attendees will either a) come no matter who is on the field or b) have no clue who will or won't be on the field and won't base their decision to attend on whether or not those stars will be there.

With all the bad press the league has been getting this year, they _may_ change their stance, but I just don't see it happening... the weekend dates are too prescious.

Toronto FC will play Chivas USA on Saturday without nine of its 11 starters. Coach John Carver appealed to the league to reschedule the match, but was turned down.
This is crazy...

any of you 'inside' people hearing MLS talking about adhering to the international calendar?

We were just talking about depth, and the lack of American players to keep things on a high-level (especially with expansion coming again)... you'd think MLS would have to rethink it's scheduling.  Are they just waiting for a couple of more stadiums to come on line so they can control the venue's better?
