New faces lead hungry Western teams

Primetime conference battle a must-win for both clubs

• Since taking over the head coaching duties, Gary Smith has now seen his charges lose back-to-back games - the opening two games on a three-game road trip.

• "We set ourselves a realistic target of four points, out of nine, on the road," said Smith. "I have a lot of faith in the players, and in their judgment. We've had two extremely difficult games on the road. Circumstances last week saw us lose four players in a game. ... We play against Dallas next week. We don't have a lot of time to recover and regroup. We get to find out what sort of character this side has."
