[nas] Sammer Chants (was re: how do the S. koreans do it?)
Along those lines, our most effective chant is clearly "Na na na na hey hey hey goodbye." That's the one that has come through loud and clear in both wins.
Along the lines of a slightly more complicated one, but one I think would still be great, how about the chorus from Todd Rundgren's classic "Bang on the Drum all day." Any really simple drum beat (boom-rest-boom-rest or somesuch) will do, and the lyrics are fun:
"I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day"
Do that for about half an hour before the kickoff of any game, and it gets everyone in the right mood.
In general, ladies and gentlemen, I have seen the future of Sam's Army chants, and that future is Classic Rock (and oldies). How about "Hit the Road, Jack" whenever someone gets tossed? there have got to be a ton of these lines from hooky rock songs.
On the original topic, the chanters have had a lot of help, with sessions organized by the Federation and perhaps even the government. I wish we could get that kind of helping hand (though it would cost us something in independence).

One of the things I have noticed in England and Germany is that 95% of the cheers and songs are incredibly simple when it comes to words. Either one line of words, or they do ?DaDaDa? to a familiar tune.
Far too much we try to compose masterful lyrics to an entire song. We?d do much better Doing one line ditties.
The other 5% of the songs can be more complicated, but it take years (20+) sometimes for them to catch on.
