It's like 'Mexicans have black hair, blah blah blah" - "well I know a 
blond one, blah blah blah."

There is no norm. When I immigrated at age 19, I never went back to 
celebrate German holidays, go to meetings with Germans, buy their 
cars, etc. I integrated almost immediately into American society.

That is why I think it is a personal, individual thing.

That doesn't mean I don't feel German at times, I do. If the US 
doesn't win the cup, then I want Germany to win it.
That is why I put on my German stuff when they play, and the American 
stuff when they do, including the appropriate flag outside.
